HEAD SHAMAN

Alfredo Chavez is one of the few pioneer tour guides of the Peruvian Amazon. He has been a guide in the Peruvian Amazon for over 50 years. He was featured as a guide for Nigel Marven In Discovery Channel's documentary “Anacondas” (2003). He started to train as a shaman when he was 15 years old. His family is of the Cucama tribe; He was born and raised in the jungle. Alfredo was trained in shamanism by his uncle, José Baras, who was a respected and powerful shaman. Later, he trained and was an apprentice of 8 other maestros (masters).  He has been been practicing shamanism for 55 years and specializes in diagnostic shamanism.  

EDUCATIONAL AYAHUASCA EXPERIENCE

Participate in an educational demonstration and historical lore session with a professional traditional Shaman in the Peruvian Amazon Jungle. This does not included the use of the plant (psychoactive-drug) Ayahuasca.
